We welcomed all of our seed dealers to visit with guests regarding the Corn and Soybean varieties they included in the Test Plot this year. We concluded in Alma City Park for a meal and fellowship.
The annual Field Day took place on August 25 at Alma City Park. A bus took guests from the park to the Corn plot, located East of Alma, off HIghway 20. They heard from seed dealers and viewed the 33 corn varieties.
The next stop was to view the soybean plot located East of Alma Telephone office. The show plot displayed 9 seed companies.
Returning to the park to meet up with other guests, Nutrien Ag Solutions grilled burgers and brats for everyone. The SFAL board worked with SF FFA to serve a meal to everyone.
One Scholarship recipient was present that evening to receive their check. SFAL President, Jeff Bergman presented the check ($500) to Lilie Lett, a Senior from Odessa majoring in Animal Science. Other recipients not present are:
Sophia Bolser $1000 scholarship check
Katelynn Schreiman $1000 scholarship check
Jacob Nelson $500 scholarship check
The AgriLeaders set up a silent auction at the park for attendees to bid on bags of seed corn and soybeans. The seed dealers who participated in the plots also generously donated bags of seed for the auction. It was a great auction and will help continue the scholarship fund.
