The annual Field Day took place on August 10 at Alma City Park. A bus took guests from the park to the Corn plot, located north of SF High School. They heard from seed dealers and viewed the 33 corn varieties.
The next stop was to view the soybean plot located a half mile east of Alma, off highway 20. The show plot displayed 9 seed companies.
Returning to the park to meet up with other guests, Nutrien Ag Solutions fried fish and potatoes for everyone. The SFAL board worked with SF FFA to serve a meal to everyone before hearing from guest speaker, Andrew Homfeld from FCS Financial.
Scholarship recipients were also present that evening to receive their checks. SFAL President, Jeff Bergman presented the following:
Caedon Bergman $1000 scholarship check
Trent Begemann $1000 scholarship check
Callie Fuehring $500 Outstanding Senior award
(Not present) Nathan Freund $1000 scholarship check
New this year, the AgriLeaders set up a silent auction at the park for attendees to bid on bags of seed corn and soybeans. The seed dealers who participated in the plots also generously donated bags of seed for the auction. It was a great auction and will help continue the scholarship fund.
